Phew, what a whirlwind of a few months it’s been over here on the other side of the pond (otherwise known as, the Atlantic Ocean). Truly, I’m sorry for the lack of writing and influence on the Facebook page, really I have no excuses. It’s just been university and work and everything in between. Though I miss South Africa every time I think about it (every day), I am loving my life here in the United States! It’s great to be home and see familiar faces everywhere I go. But…I can’t wait to be back in your beautiful country!
As promised, I’m here to write a bit about fashion, and a bit about life. For those of you who are globally aware of the climate, we’re smack-dab in the middle of fall over here – and it’s absolutely beautiful! I attend university in the mountains and right now all the leaves are changing, the temperature drops daily and I’m finally able to break out all my fabulous clothes I purchased while in SA (I’ve been waiting a long time for this). But enough about me and my wardrobe, I have a question for all of you…
If you lived in an ideal world and got to choose whether you read about the current fashion trends (summer 2014), or what to expect in the next season (fall 2014), which would you choose (please leave a comment below with your pick)? Lucky for you, this website is kind of an ideal world, because you get to pick! So for today I’ll do summer as I kiss my last few days of shorts and sandals goodbye
This is a great outfit for this time of year because it helps the navigation between spring and summer. The closed toed shoes and the scarf keep the coolness of spring while the short-sleeved chambray shirt brings in the warmth of summer.
White jeans will be your best friend this summer, there’s no other way to say it – they go with everything. Again we see the chambray shirt, which is so versatile from season to season. Ladies, I’ve mentioned it before on the Style Page but hats are a life saver. How many mornings do you find yourself running out of time just before leaving the house? Well, your answer is a hat. You’re welcome.
Whoever said black jeans are not okay in the summer, said wrong. They are so forgiving and if you find the right pair, then comfort all around. The sandals in this outfit are what upgrade this look from spring to summer. Side note: the lighter the bag color, the warmer the weather.
The thing I love about all three of these looks is that no matter your body shape or style, you can work it. My charge to you: work it with pride. We have a good friend here in the US (not sure if you know of him there), his name is Henry David Thoreau and he once said, “go confidently in the direction of your dreams!” I like to say, “go confidently in your outfit!”
